Come see a profound one-woman show by E. Claudette Freeman. Join us and sit on the porch with Chayonne and her rifle, Tilda, to learn life’s most valuable lessons.
Chosen for the Staged Reading Category in the 2020 Atlanta Black Theatre Festival, “Peeing in a Soda Bottle”, celebrates old Southern woman wisdom and front porch storytelling. The main character Chayonne is described by the author as a “high-yellow, moonshine drinking, cussing woman” who some disregard just because of who she is. This incredible work is full of intricate life insights shared through a character living with regret, hurt, her definition of faith, strength, and an undercurrent of compassion for others. This piece asks us to reflect on how we treat our elders, tells us hard truths, and shares our stories through the voice of a woman often ignored.
